What You Know
Como indicação de música, trago hoje What You Know, da banda Two Door Cinema Club. Fui simplesmente conquistada pelo ritmo dessa e de todas as outras músicas dessa banda em um dia comum quando assistia ao Multishow e passou um show deles. Acho que quem tem um gosto similar ao meu, que gosto de Coldplay, Mika, Take That e Keane (todos britânicos) vai amar essa banda, que, oras, é britânica XD.

Falando em Keane (acho que é notícia velha, mas sempre há um ou outro desavisado que sabe por último) os rapazes farão um show junto com a banda Maroon 5 ( igualmente maravilhosos) agora no final do mês em São Paulo, no Rio e em Curitiba. Soube que os ingressos no Rio esgotaram em 3 dias, por quê será??? É, show de banda boa é assim mesmo. E quem não pode ir dá seu jeito pra não deixar de assistir, nem que seja pela televisão do celular, não é? kkkk

Dando continuidade à série de posts da banda Keane (que eu acho que muita gente deve ter achado que me esqueci XD), venho postar dessa vez algumas informações sobre o vocalista, Tom Chaplin.

Música
Dia desses, em mais uma das minhas andanças pela internet, descobri uma banda chamada Take That; atualmente ela ganho o prêmio de melhor banda britânica no Brit Awards 2011.
O que mais me interessou nela foi o fato de Robbie Williams fazer parte dos componentes e foi isso que me impeliu a querer saber mais sobre esse grupo. Bom, o que eu descobri: Take that é uma banda da década de 90; Robbie Williams fazia parte da sua composição original, mas em algum momento da história (que eu vou procurar saber qual foi) ele saiu do grupo e foi para uma carreira solo, que foi quando ouvi falar dele; descobri que Robbie Williams voltou à banda e ela agora está em sua composição original; por fim, descobri que gosto do mais recente álbum deles, pois fizeram um som bem legal e com letras inteligentes, o que é muito importante. 🙂
Mas não é da banda que esse post vai falar; eu vim aqui para recomendar uma música do álbum mais recente, o Progress.
O clipe é muito legal e foi por isso que selecionei esta música para post ao invés da banda ganhadora do prêmio; me passou a idéia de que devemos ir além, persistir no nosso objetivo mesmo quando tudo parece acabado e que não vamos conseguir chegar onde queremos. Foi pra mim um verdadeiro exemplo de superação!
Então é com as minhas recomendações que eu deixo disponível aqui o clipe e a letra da música para aqueles que já conhecem e gostam dela e também para aqueles que ficaram curiosos para conhecer a música e, posteriormente, a banda.

Oi gente! Eu não disse que o Keane iria voltar a aparecer aqui???
Agora venho com a biografia da banda, para familiarizar aqueles que não a conhecem ainda…

Keane é uma banda inglesa, da cidade de Battle, East Sussex. A banda é formada por Tim Rice-Oxley, compositor e pianista, Tom Chaplin, vocalista e Richard Hughes na bateria. Eles tinham um guitarrista Dominic Scott, que deixou a banda em 2001. A voz de Chaplin, que canta freqüentemente em falsete, é uma importante característica da banda.
Eles citaram muitas influências, incluindo The Beatles, U2, Oasis, R.E.M., The Smiths, Radiohead, Queen, Pet Shop Boys e Paul Simon.
Tim Rice-Oxley e Dominic Scott foram os principais compositores da banda em seus primeiros anos. Quando Scott a deixou em 2001, Rice-Oxley tornou-se o principal compositor. Chaplin e Hughes davam contribuições menores (vocal e bateria). Rice-Oxley creditava a eles cada som, enquanto Keane participava num esquema similar ao do U2, onde o dinheiro era repartido entre os membros da banda.
O grupo foi formado por volta de 1995 por Tim Rice-Oxley (baixo, guitarra e vocal), Dominic Scott (guitarra e vocal) e Richard Hughes (bateria). Em 1997, Tom Chaplin (vocal e guitarra) passa integrar a banda. Nessa mesma época, adota-se também o teclado como um dos instrumentos. No ano seguinte, decidem se mudar para Londres. Em fevereiro de 2000 lançam o primeiro single, Call Me What You Like, e em junho de 2001, Wolf At The Door, ambos pelo selo Zoomorphic. Descontente com a falta de sucesso da banda e com diferenças musicais em relação a seus companheiros, Dom deixa a banda em 2001. Após o choque da saída do amigo e um tempo sem shows, em que “repensam” seu som, voltam aos palcos e, em dezembro de 2002, já sem nenhuma guitarra e com o piano (tocado por Tim) como instrumento principal, são convidados a gravar pelo selo Fierce Panda. O resultado desse encontro são os singles Everybody’s Changing e This Is The Last Time. Depois do destaque que esses singles obtiveram, a banda assina com a gravadora Island Records em setembro de 2003 e, em maio do ano seguinte, lança seu álbum de estréia, Hopes And Fears, que dá notoriedade mundial a esta singular e excelente banda. 2005 fica marcado como o ano de sua consagração, com as premiações Ivor Novello de Música do Ano para “Everybody’s Changing” e dois Brit Awards (Melhor Revelação Britânica e Melhor Álbum Britânico). O segundo álbum, Under The Iron Sea, foi lançado no dia 12 de junho de 2006 no mundo todo, exceto Estados Unidos e Canadá, onde o lançamento aconteceu no dia 20 do mesmo mês.

Falando sobre Beatles…Continuação
Desprezo Americano
Os Beatles demoraram a emplacar nos EUA, provavelmente devido ao inexplicável desinteresse da Capitol, a gravadora americana pertencente grupo EMI inglês. Depois que "I Want To Hold Your Hand" foi para primeiro lugar, em janeiro de 1964, foi uma avalanche de discos americanos dos Beatles lançados, por causa de contratos anteriores firmados entre a EMI e selos menores como Vee Jay, Swan e Tollie. O contrato com a Vee Jay, por exemplo, só foi expirar em 1966.No empenho em lançar tudo depressa e em primeira mão, a Capitol editou "Ticket To Ride" anotando no selo "do filme da United Artists, Eight Arms To Hold You", que era meramente o título de trabalho de Help!. Outro detalhe: é Paul quem toca os solos de guitarra em Ticket To Ride.
